GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra (August 7th, 2009, Paramount Pictures)

I will have a full review of this movie posted later this weekend but in the meantime, I have already selected GI JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA this weekends "Friday Must See Feature".

Despite its lack of similarities to the childrens cartoon/toy series from HASBRO out of which this movie is inspired, GI JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA is seemingly guaranteed to surprise audiences by how effective it is.  Fun, entertaining, blockbuster, and better then expected, are just a few of the adjectives that most critics are throwing out now that the film has been screened amply.  Sounds like GI JOE  could be THE most memorable blockbuster action film of 2009's summer, thanks to the ridiculously disappointing line-up of WOLVERINE ORIGINS, TERMINATOR: SALVATION, and TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN.

Even though its current rating of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes will surely change when all of the critics report, I personally feel that this film will most likely be enjoyed going into it without any critical rhetoric to cloud your judgment.  Most of you are probably not expecting an academy award winning film, therefore, most of you will be going home satisfied with your theater experience. Catch more on this film when I post my full review.

Disagree? Feel free to catch Julie and Julia or Perfect Getaway, the other wide-release movies this weekend instead.
