More on Free Sol

Day 1: Thursday March 18th 2010

9:30 A.M.

We left Memphis at 1130pm Wednesday night.  The 12 hour drive has been long, with a few stops to change drivers every 2-3 hours.

I woke up at a jack in the box outside waco texas.

Its been hard to sleep to but I know its gonna be a long night with our first show being at 10 pm.

12:52 P.M.

Just got to Austin.

Relaxing in the lounge at the Management offices downtown.

We’re currently waiting to hear when our official sound check is.

3:10 P.M.

Free Sol is getting some stuff done for his video shoot. (The Full Shoot is on Monday)

The Weather is perfect here in Austin.

The traffic is pretty bad, definitely a-lot of musicians here right now.

6:35 P.M.

Checked into the hotel.

Got a few hours of down time before we hit the stage.

Got a chance to explore the University of Texas today.

Also got a flyer for my homie Donny Goines show tomorrow night.

Definitely gotta check that out if I get the chance.

Via Twitter at 9:00 P.M:

[ djcharliewhite] Yesssur..just got to my first show of the night..its a crazy house party.sometimes those are the best.

2:18 A.M.

Show was sick.

Showed up with no sound check and wasn’t able to use my set up – Had to work with what they had.

Rocked the 20 min show and then went over to the Memphis Music Showcase.

I was fortunate to perform on it last year.

Caught up with 8Ball and MJG backstage.

Via Twitter at 3:20 A.M:

[djcharliewhite] Day 1 was wild down here in ATX..I heard the Digiwaxx showcase was ill. Got two shows tomorrow.

Day 1 Wrap-up:

A complete success.

(besides a few minor problems with traffic and directions)

Goodnight.

See you on Day 2.

Day 2: Friday March 19th 2010

10:34 A.M.

Stumbled out of bed this morning.

Hit up the breakfast at the hotel.

A lot of hung over musicians and artists struggling in the lobby of the hotel.

About to head to sound check and first show with the band today at noon.

12:13 P.M.

Line for the first show.

This is the only angle my camera could capture.

1:35 P.M.

Just got off stage.

[Regarding the performance of Free Sol] Definitely did our thing for the first show with the band together down here.

It was a great to do a show with a packed house–Indie music fans are the best.

A sold out crowd supporting artists this early in the day is a beautiful thing.

Backstage grubbin out right now before a 3pm meeting with Interscope–I Got to meet a lot of them today for the first time.

Show tonight at 7pm.

We’re all excited to perform at Stubbs, a historic venue here in Austin.

6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. via Twitter:

8:50 P.M.

Currently at Justin Timberlake Launch Party for his 901 Tequila

9:45 P.M.

Night out on the town in Austin.

In the studio tomorrow with the Black Eyed Peas production camp.

2:23 A.M

Pulled up the stubbs to perform at 7pm.

Was told we were pushed back on bill to Saturday.

Gonna be in the studio all weekend recording music for The A Team movie submission.

Gonna be a good couple of creative days.

Video shoot for song off the mixtape scheduled for Monday.

Day 2 Wrap Up:

Ran into various artists, djs, and blog reps.

Meeting with Interscope went well, that’s all I can say for now…

Day 2 was productive (but long).

Day 3: March 20th 2010:

8:12 A.M.

Up early today.

Hit up The Wire Studios up in Austin to finish the music for the movie A-Team.

Everything is getting mixed right now.

No show tonight.

Need to finish this music to send off to the movie (Sounding good so far).

2:41 P.M.

Been in the Wire Studio all morning working on the theme song for the movie The A Team.

I laid cuts on the hook and solo.

Been a good time.

Its a rainy day so a great time to be locked in the studio.

Show at Stubbs has been officially canceled so we can finish these records to submit to the movie.

Day 3 Wrap-Up:

Spent the whole day at the Wire Studio.

Scratched on a track that we are submitting to the movie the A-Team.

The music supervisor of Fox came by to check out our stuff.

Definitely a great look all around.

We have the studio booked for tomorrow at noon so we called it an early night.

Cold weather moved in so we figure it’s a good time to rest.

Peace out world.

Day 4: March 21st 2010

10:31 A.M.

Woke up early again today.

We called it an early night yesterday.

Was able to get some exercise in this morning before we hit up the studio.

We have one more day in Austin.

Today most of the musicians are heading out.

Ready to get back in the lab to hear what we created yesterday.

12:31 P.M.

Setting up drums to track on new song we created for the A-Team submission.

I’ve been helping on the songwriting process.  (Laid some cuts down too)

5:56 P.M.

Still in the middle of this session.

Working on the second track  for the A-Team submission.

We’re at The Wire studio where sublime and the legendary Butt Hole Surfers laid cuts.

Day 4 Wrap-up:

Spent the entire day inside The Wire studio in Austin.

Today we worked on song 2 for the A Team movie submission.

The homie Kyle Lucas stopped by for a second.

The city is really quiet and the hotel is almost empty.

Gotta get up early and hit up the video shoot tomorrow.

We are looking to head out of Austin after that.

Goodnight world.

Day 5: Monday March 22nd 2010

11:21 A.M.

Last and final day of our trip to SxSW.

Up here at a video shoot for the record “Rock N Rolla” off the mixtape.

Heading back to Memphis right after this is over.

5:38 P.M.

About to leave Austin.

It feels good to have been here for two straight years.

Repetition is key for success.

This End’s DJ Charlie White’s Adventure at the 2010 SXSW Festival with Free Sol.

Real talk, Thanks to everyone who followed along with DJ Charlie White’s trip here at Hypothesis Spits.
